What does genuine leadership look like when no one’s watching?

Jon breaks down what it means to lead courageously, whether or not you hold a formal title. You’ll explore how trust, delegation, and transparency create environments where others step up and lead. You’ll connect your leadership style to your team’s culture and learn how to keep integrity front-and-center as you grow.

Lesson Contents

  • Reflect on how title and authority affect leadership behavior
  • Identify informal leaders already driving team culture
  • Practice clear, consistent communication and feedback rhythms

Reflection Questions:

Reflection:

As you reflect on your own leadership journey, when have you found it most difficult to lead courageously and authentically? When has it been easiest?

In further reflection: when have you been given the opportunity to lead others without the title? What about when you have had the title? Did it change your actions or how you approached leadership?

Think about your team: can you name anyone who has shown leadership skills and abilities without the official title? How have they influenced the team?

If you do have a formal leadership role, reflect on how you communicate with your team. How often are you sharing expectations and goals with your team? Do you have a set schedule for sharing expectations and helping your team evaluate goals?
